VLC can be used as a video Editor
VLC Media Player has some hidden features that allow it to be used as a basic video editor. Here are some editing tasks you can perform with VLC:
Trimming Videos:
- You can trim video clips to save a select timeline.
- Go to View -> Advanced Controls.
- Click the red “Record” button when you reach the section you want to trim.
- Play the file from that point onward and click “Record” again to stop.
- The trimmed video files will be saved automatically in your system’s “Videos” folder1.
Merging Trimmed Files:
- After trimming bad portions, you can merge the clean portions.
- Go to “Media -> Open Multiple Files”.
- Add all the trimmed files and click “Open”.
- Click “Play”, then choose “Convert”.
- Select the format for the combined video (e.g., OGG or H265)1.
Adding Text and Subtitles:
Remember that VLC’s editing features are basic, but they’re useful for simple tasks. If you need more advanced editing capabilities, consider using dedicated video editing software
